Our Catholic mission is to love our neighbor as ourselves and to provide help and assistance to those in need.
Unfortunately, these acts of kindness and compassion require funding. The Catholic Services Appeal is the annual fundraising campaign for the Diocese of Grand Rapids in which we are asked by our Bishop to give generously. With those contributions, the diocese can continue to support the many aspects of our larger church as illustrated in the video. Without this appeal the Diocese simply could not carry out its pastoral ministries and programs.
Our parish receives direct benefit to our two seminarians, our faith formation programs, out outreach to migrant ministry, and numerous ways that guide us in legal and financial matters. With our Capital Project on the horizon we rely on guidance from the bishop’s office on a regular basis.
This week, every one of our 1634 households will receive a packet from the diocese. Included will be information regarding this year’s programs, a letter from the Bishop accompanied by a letter from Fr. Phil, encouraging us to give careful thought to our response this year. A pledge card will be included along with an envelope for your convenience. There are numerous ways you can contribute to this year’s CSA. You can make a one-time pledge or better yet, give generously through a pledge that can be paid monthly over ten months or quarterly.
Our assigned goal this year is $170,080. As in years past you have generously contributed and we have been able to reach our goal consistently.
There is no minimum and all gifts are gratefully received. The goal is for all Catholic’s to prayerfully consider a donation in accordance with the gifts God has given them. As a family of faith, we can help bring a little light and a little hope to thousands of people each year by supporting Bishop Walkowiak and the Catholic Services Appeal.
This week is “Commitment Weekend” and you are asked to bring your gift or pledge at that time. An early commitment is an important step in achieving the results required so that “Faith May Flourish”.
Thank you and God bless you.
