Gifts For Change

St.Patrick/St.Anthony Parish provides free space for vendors, who represent artisans and farmers from all over the world, with a venue to sell their products. All monies from the sale go directly back to the artisans.  This event also offers non-profit organizations the opportunity to connect with each other for the greater good of the community, while financing community-building projects.
Vendors of Fair Trade are certified by the worldwide Fair Trade Federation, whose goal is to lift people out of poverty, and help them to become self-sufficient by offering a living wage for their work.  Most of these artisans are poor women who are the sole support of their families. Also represented are third world farmers, who are supported by local men and women through micro-loans. This program enables small farmers to compete on the world market and provide for their families.
We offer a "Sneak Peek" Sunday the week before Thanksgiving to give parishioners and community members a chance to preview some of the third world products, which will be available at the Gifts for Change event the first weekend of December!  You will also be able to taste test samples of our fair trade coffee, chocolate, and olive oil, which are for sale every Sunday!
We invite you to join us for Sneak Peek Sunday, November 19th and Gifts for Change weekend on Saturday/Sunday, December 2/3, 2017.  A light lunch will also be available, with proceeds benefiting our twinning parish in Haiti.  For more information, to reserve space, or volunteer, please contact Nancy Buchanan @ 616-402-3375 or Kathleen Gunning @ 616-215-4553.
