Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) nourishes the child’s relationship with Jesus and gives them an understanding of our Catholic faith. Parishes across the diocese, country, and internationally have witnessed the love and beauty of our Good Shepherd and our Catholic faith with CGS formation.

Overview of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS)

  • Children 3-9 years of age are placed in two atria by age and spiritual development
  • All sessions take place in a specially prepared environment called an atrium
  • The atrium is a prayerful space where children encounter Jesus through Scripture, liturgy (Mass), sacraments, and contemplative prayer
  • CGS Sessions are held weekly, at St. Patrick in the Holy Family Faith Center
  • All materials comply with the Catechesis of the Catholic Church and are inspired by Montessori principles and intentionally mirror the liturgical seasons of the Church
  • Catechists are certified by the National Association of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
